John Krul 21 bid his family goodbye and died at 12 15 am Edward Balling 19 died at 12 21 am with a prayer on his lips Van Buren Dedmon 25 spoke at length before dying nine minutes later Balling’s mother could not reach the prison in time to say goodbye.
Federal Trade Commission chairman Ewin L. Davis announced a liberal code policy for voluntary business codes. He said the rules will be uniform and broad to apply across all industries, with focus on open pricing discounts loss leaders and other practices not previously allowed. Davis noted the commission’s approach aims to administer laws fairly and could shift with possible changes in membership.

Berlin reports Germany concentrates its 1935 naval program on submarines the WWII dreadnoughts banned by Versailles. A communique notes 28 submarines planned with three already launched plus two battleships two cruisers and 16 destroyers, all under a naval agreement with Britain. Pretty Ann Sibley an Antioch College co ed formerly of Smith College is missing after she missed a bus en route from Antioch to Chicago. Her brother Joseph Sibley a Chicago law student told police she was dissatisfied with school and likely would not return to Antioch. Police searched rooming houses hotels railroads and bus stations in Xenia and Springfield.

AP reports Harry L. Hopkins states the Works Progress Administration will cost about one third as much as direct relief. Ohio relief administration cost from May 1 1934 to April 30 1935 was 9.8 percent of total expenditures, about one percent below the national average of three percent expected under the work relief system.
