Laurelville Trucker Killed In Wheeling Crash

James Hardman 38 of Laurelville was killed when his tractor trailer veered off I 70 into a downtown Wheeling street and exploded after catching fire. The crash occurred about 3 am near Wheeling Tunnel and blocked traffic for hours. Funeral arrangements are handled by Wellman Funeral Home Circleville.

John Gilloglys Hosts IFYE Delegate From Japan

Hank Bartholomew announces that Shigeo Kuwana a 22 year old Japanese IFYE delegate will stay with the John Gillogly family in Logan from July 15 to 31 as part of the International Farm Youth Exchange. Kuwana a former Aichi ken 4 H Club member will arrive from Seattle after June 26 and will visit Ohio Connecticut and Washington DC before returning to Japan October 20. The Hocking County 4 H Committee plans a 6 30 p m July 21 potluck in Kuwana's honor at the Hocking Youth Center and discusses the Share the Fun contest and judge meals for project judging.

Five Die in Danbury Prison Fire Deliberate Blaze Suspected

A three story cellblock fire at the federal Danbury prison killed five inmates and injured about 66. Investigators say the blaze may have been deliberate though officials withheld details. Inmates described being trapped inside thick smoke with doors reportedly locked as rescue crews fought to reach them.
