Sailor Freed After Cuban Seizure of Musica Off Havana
A 19 year old sailor from Newport Beach California along with four companions was freed Tuesday after Cuban forces seized the ketch Musica 46 feet long while en route to Panama. Two other Americans remained detained in Cuba. The crew described gunboats and jet aircraft during the seizure and said the vessel was mistaken for a different boat. The Coast Guard monitored distress calls and informed the State Department with no immediate comment issued. The freed men arrived in Key West reporting a new appreciation for American democracy.
