Deputy Newton Spencer and coroner Vance Brian assisted in the rescue attempt using grappling hooks as divers searched the basin. The Ingram family, with six other children, had been at the reservoir with no relief at press time.

Mystery Shot Kills Man in South Bend
Edmund E. Prentice fifty, purchasing agent for National Discount Corporation, was found fatally wounded in his home near midnight. Police questioned his widow, Annie Prentice, and their five year old son Neville, but could not confirm how the death occurred. Coroner Knapp noted Mrs. Prentice heard a disturbance and found her husband alive but dying, with no report of a gunshot heard.

A two-vehicle crash around 12 30 this morning between Murray City and Glouster injured five people. Esther Brown of Glouster suffered serious face and neck lacerations needing 65 stitches plus a broken wrist and crushed ankle. Frank Jewel and Darewood Jewel, both from Glouster, were treated for minor injuries. Frank remained hospitalized. Eddie Jones also treated. two others in Jewel party unhurt. One person in the second car was treated by a local doctor. Both cars sustained heavy damage.

Farmer shoots noise makers near Mt Gilead
William R Wahl faced a charge of shooting with intent to kill after firing a borrowed shotgun toward two youths 12 miles southeast of Mt Gilead Ohio. He said he aimed at the ground to frighten them after they set off firecrackers. Belcher 16 and Burson 15 were injured by pellets. Wahl posted $500 bond and was bound over to the grand jury.
