A community event offers a concession stand with sloppy joes hot dogs chips snacks ice cream sno cones popcorn and drinks. Live entertainment begins at 1 30 p m with multiple groups. Bike races start at 3 p m in several age categories then a free movie at 6 15 p m. The event ends with games and a tug of war by the Hocking River.
The first adult swim of the summer season at the Logan city swimming pool runs from 8 to 10 tonight. Pool manager Dick Erb notes opening at 6 30 p.m. for regular swimming and closing at 7 45 p.m. to reopen for adult swim. The pool closes at 5 p.m. Wednesday to avoid conflicting with Holiday at Home events at the Hocking County Fairgrounds.
Hocking County Engineer George Mara announced Moore Rd. in Starr Township will close Thursday through July 16 for a bridge replacement. Traffic can detour onto Vickers Rd. during that interval. The bridge is the first west of Union Furnace.

Investigators continued today into the death of 35 year old Mrs. Ralph Mary Jane Brown and her unborn child after a runaway motorcycle struck spectators during the two day national motorcycle trials near Laurelville. Rider Lawrence Gibbs 21 Avon Conn was released on recognizance pending completion of the probe. The fatal collision occurred in Snake Hollow near the Nelsonville Tuberculosis Center.
Santa Monica AP report states actress Betty Grable, famed World War II pin up, died of lung cancer at St John’s Hospital at 56. Her career included 42 films and top box office status, with a famous white bathing suit pin up and hits such as Million Dollar Legs and How to Marry a Millionaire.
The Citizens Task Force for Schools meets at 8 p.m. Thursday at the Logan School District administration office. Earl Hayes, Portsmouth architect, outlines renovation needs with preliminary cost estimates and 12 year enrollment projections. He may recommend new high school construction as part of a district plan.
Dr. Charles F. Shonk of Logan is in critical condition at Grant Hospital Columbus after a Friday evening stroke. He was admitted following the incident and remains under care.
