Thief Unaware Of Radium in Car

Police recovered two radium tubes valued at $5,000 along with a stolen automobile. Detective Frank Cawthra said a 27 year old Crile Veterans Hospital patient admitted stealing the machine from a downtown parking lot. The man used the car to travel to and from the hospital unaware the radium was inside.

Xenia Slayer Dies in Ohio Penitentiary Electric Chair

Clifford Gayles, 34, of Xenia, was executed in the Ohio Penitentiary for the murder of Edna Adkins and wounding Ollie Davidson during a 1947 crime spree. He had been paroled in 1946 after a 1934 murder sentence. Eyes donated to the New York eye bank. Ada Davidson, 17, sister of Ollie, remains serving a life term in Marysville Reformatory after capture in New Orleans.
