Train Wreck Near Bluefield Kills Engineer and Fireman

A Norfolk and Western locomotive derailed and exploded 20 miles from Bluefield. Engineer W. W. Snead and fireman Israel Mahaffey died in the crash. A brakeman was injured.

Poling denies entering home in break and enter case

Fred Poling a 47 year old resident of West Logan was held to the grand jury today pleading not guilty to a breaking and entering charge. Bond was set at 506 dollars. He was arrested last night by Deputy Sheriff Nellis Smith on a break in at the home of James Poling on June 8 with a box of groceries valued at unknown amount.

Disciple Faces Five Year Rap

John Wuest Hunt, follower of Father Divine, convicted of transporting 17 year old Delight Jewett from Denver to Beverly Hills for immoral purposes. Co defendants Agnes Gardner Elizabeth Peters and H B Smith acquitted. Judge Yankwich set Friday for sentencing and plea for new trial. Hunt faces up to five years.

Senate Passes Stop Gap to Fund Ohio Departments

The Ohio Senate approved an 11.224 million stop gap appropriation to fund state departments for three months while the 1987-38 budget is negotiated with the House. The measure passed 23 to 4 and goes to the House as analysts warn of a looming fiscal lapse.

Fishermen in Auto Mishap Near Buckeye Lake

Four Logan youths returning from an overnight fishing trip escaped injury when their car collided with another and overturned on the Sugar Grove road in Marion Township. Earl Glei led the Logan car with Ralph Nash Eddie Nelson and Kermit Bliss as passengers. Rol land Roach drove the other car. Wayne Roach suffered a cut from flying glass. Ambrose Loses WPA Timekeeping Post in County Merger

Fred Ambrose of Logan is laid off as timekeeping supervisor in the Hocking County WPA office as timekeeping merges with Perry County. He served about four years. WPA in Ohio shifts to six districts from twelve and plans 90 000 Ohio employees by July 15. Ed Collins says no definite local quota yet, though Hocking rolls will be cut.
