Fire destroys waterfront block in Pomeroy downtown
Firemen battled for seven hours to contain a blaze that damaged a dozen major waterfront buildings in Pomeroy Ohio population 3000. Three structures were gutted and the rest damaged by fire smoke or water. Damage estimated at least 500000 with four or five apartments affected. Fire from a basement of a three story department store spread along the main route as equipment from eight towns aided the effort. One firefighter treated for smoke inhalation.
