Low temperatures reached near zero or below in many areas including Watertown Rome Utica and Washington with wind chills and light snow flurries reported across the East and South.

Subzero temperatures and widespread snow hit Ohio with two Cleveland deaths linked to the cold. A 75 year old man found in a car and a 72 year old man who collapsed shoveling snow shed light on the deadly cold. Early weather reports warned slippery highways north of Eaton to Woodsfield as temperatures dipped below seven below zero in Columbus. A new cold front promised more cloudy weather and snow tomorrow. The arctic blast affected much of the eastern United States while Alaska and Denver saw much warmer readings.
The forecast calls for temperatures averaging 6 to 12 degrees below normal with highs around 35 to 39 and lows near 19 to 24. Snow flurries are likely tonight with more snow possible Sunday and again Wednesday as temperatures remain well below normal before a gradual warmup Monday through Wednesday.
