A blizzard like storm hit the Hocking Valley Wednesday night with winds 30 to 50 mph causing heavy drifting up to 15 feet. Roads were iced and many vehicles skidded or veered into ditches while schools remained closed and crews fought to clear primary and secondary routes. Temperatures fell to two below zero, then eight above by morning. Forecast warns further very cold weather with a chance of more snow tonight and Friday.
