Benjamin E. Meyer, an escaped Hocking County killer, admitted who he is after FBI arrest in Indiana. He was convicted for the 1954 murder of Velvia Meyer and fled London Correctional Institution last July. Officials note he may waive extradition. otherwise Ohio authorities will seek transfer to Ohio Penitentiary.
NASA announces Echo 2 balloon satellite sighting times over Ohio tonight and Tuesday. Schedules show appearances at 6:35 p.m. eastern sky 47 to 61 degrees, then 8:24 p.m. west 22 to 25 degrees, 4:10 a.m. east 5 to 11 degrees, and 5:57 a.m. east 69 to 88 degrees as it moves northeast and southeast.
Sen. Margaret Chase Smith of Maine announced she would seek the Republican presidential nomination aiming to be the first woman on a major party ticket. She emphasized a possible bid for the presidency, with speculation about a vice presidential role, while entering the New Hampshire GOP primary alongside male contenders.

Separate AP dispatch from Atlanta reports 86 arrests at racial demonstrations, mostly Negro students, with Dick Gregory among those detained.
President Johnson announced that two U S military satellites have detected intercontinental ballistic missile launches from Florida and California including liquid fueled Titan and Atlas boosters and the solid fueled Minuteman. The system aims to provide continuous global surveillance via infrared sensors.
