Appeals Court Upsets Pritchard Case Verdict

Laos leader trusts Paris pact despite Cease Fire fragility

Prime Minister Souvanna Phouma said the Paris agreement should be respected and that the United States would resume bombing Communist forces if Laos cease fire violations occur. Vietnam War Death Toll Rises Amid Heavy U.S. Air Strikes

In South Vietnam nearly 400 Vietnamese and two American service members were killed amid the strongest American air campaign in eight months. At Bien Hoa Air Base a rocket attack killed a Marine guard. a helicopter crash near Phan Thiet killed another American. The U.S. Command reported 107 fighter-bomber strikes and 80 B52 sorties delivering about 2400 tons of bombs in the 24 hours ending today, as cease-fire figures show escalating casualties on both sides.

Two Taxicab Proposals Submit for Logan Council Review

Logan city council heard two taxicab proposals last night from Heskell Wagoner and Earle Timberlake. Both presed options rely on a franchise and I city ordinance questions remain about exclusive rights. Wagoner offered two cabs with possible Lancaster support. Timberlake proposed three cabs with offices at Hocking Valley Electronics.

Ferguson Fund Tops $21,000

Lyndon Johnson laid to rest at LBJ Ranch in Texas

In near freezing weather about 10 000 gathered outside a stone fence for a 50 minute service at the LBJ Ranch cemetery. Evangelist Billy Graham and former Texas Governor John Connally spoke as Johnson 64 was laid to rest after a career in the House Senate and as president.

Chicago Teachers End 11 Day Strike With New Contract

Chicago's 21 000 public school teachers ratified a new contract after an 11 day strike the longest in city history. The Chicago Teachers Union approved concessions on wages class size extra preparation time and a shorter work year by a vote of 8145 to 1012. The walkout began January 10 and idled 660 schools.

Laird Says POW Return From Hanoi Soon Under Project Homecoming

Defense Secretary Melvin Laird announced operations to repatriate American prisoners from Hanoi will begin next week with more than 100 expected home within two weeks. POWs will fly nonstop to Clark AFB Philippines via Laos, then to Travis AFB California for medical exams before dispersal to 31 military hospitals.
