Red Attacks Double Overnight Before Cease Fire

In South Vietnam Communists stepped up attacks and ground fighting was widely scattered as the cease-fire neared. U.S. and South Vietnamese planes continued operations and reports tallied 147 North Vietnamese and 12 South Vietnamese killed. American bombing was expected to taper to toward the cease fire time Sunday while some strikes likely continued until then.

Ferguson Fund Pledges Reach 20538 for Pastor Health Care

Pledges totaling 20538 have been raised to aid Rev Leonard Ferguson of Logan Baptist Church who is seriously ill with an inoperable brain tumor. Over 18500 was raised during a five hour telethon on Community Cable Service Channel 2 and WLGN radio. Additional pledges include 683 on Monday and 1307 on Tuesday. Cash received to date totals 16992. Bookkeepers Mrs Larry Kitchen and Mrs David Derr work 10 to 12 hours daily. Kissinger outlines schedule for POW releases after Vietnam peace

President adviser Henry Kissinger said U S prisoners of war will be turned over to American medical personnel in Hanoi at two week intervals after the peace agreement is signed. The protocol calls for return to be completed within 60 days and prioritized by illness and length of captivity with lists exchanged on signing day.

Intricate Peace Package Unveiled in Vietnam Talks

Washington and Hanoi unveiled details of a peace package aimed at a South Vietnam cease-fire while leaving Cambodia and Laos to their internal affairs. The 12 page agreement calls for withdrawal of North Vietnamese and other troops from Laos and Cambodia and envisions a four power international control force of 1 160 to Vietnam with China and the Soviet Union invited to participate in an international conference within 30 days. The pact also calls for release of U S prisoners within 60 days and a broad accounting for missing in action with South Vietnamese questions resolved by the people themselves.

Hocking County to Close In Honor of Lyndon B. Johnson

All local government offices and many schools in Hocking County will close Thursday in tribute to the late President Lyndon B. Johnson. Logan Post Office windows close with no mail delivery, but lobby and box section stay open.

Mayor Revises Proposals For Use Of Revenue Sharing Funds

Mayor Merril Haney presented revised 1973 and five year plans for revenue sharing money after a higher city receipt of 102000 plus. He drops earlier proposed levies and outlines health, cemetery, sewer, pool, recreation and safety allocations including 30000 for sewage plant, 50000 for cemetery land, 20000 for storm sewer, and 2000 for recreation. He also seeks long term funding for Oak Grove Cemetery land 75000 and safety upgrades such as two police cruisers 10000 and fire department pumper and ladder truck 105000.

Ohio Declares Day Of Mourning For Lyndon Johnson

Gov. Gilligan orders state and county offices closed to honor former President Lyndon B. Johnson. Nixon requests flag half staff for 30 days. State School Supt. Essex says schools may close or choose respectful observance as Johnson is remembered after his death on Monday.
