A-Bomb Armed Jet Bomber Falls in Crash Fatalities Reported
A multimillion dollar jet bomber carrying two unarmed nuclear weapons crashed near Goldsboro North Carolina early today. Three men died four parachuted to safety and an eighth survived the flaming wreck. The Air Force reported no danger of nuclear explosion or radiation. One weapon was jettisoned and parachuted to safety. The second was recovered from the wreckage of the eight jet BS52G of the Strategic Air Command about 15 miles north of Goldsboro. Pilot Maj Walter F Tulloch emerged at dawn and notified authorities he had parachuted. Surviving crew included Lt William R Wilson Capt Richard W Bardin Lt A Mattocks and Capt Paul E Brown. Other aboard were Maj Eugene Shelton Maj Eugene Richards and T Sgt Francis Barnish.
