Edgar county coroner ordered an inquest into the deaths of William A. Albers 54 and his wife and their five children at their Sidell farm home. Investigators say Albers, possibly deranged by debt worries, killed the family then set the house afire and shot himself. The victims include Mrs. Albers 45 and children Gene 4 Shirley Anne 2 June 17 Wilford 14 and Forrest 10. A bloodied baseball bat lay beside the beaten bodies. The posse earlier investigated the family’s ten day absence from high school.

Gas chamber execution marks first east of Mississippi
