Thieves struck the Harold Koker poultry farm on Saturday night stealing 24 dozen hatching eggs and several chicks. An additional batch of eggs worth 18 dollars per case was damaged, nearly a total loss. Deputy Jenkins investigated on foot after his 1958 cruiser stalled.
A two week harbor strike by 664 tug and ferry workers against 11 railroads in New York harbor ended in a tentative work pact after a 14 hour session led by Labor Secretary Arthur J. Goldberg. Mayor Wagner and Gov. Rockefeller praised the settlement as operations expected to resume by Tuesday.
