Court Rules Liquor Seizure Illegal in Revoked Permits
Franklin County Common Pleas Judge Joseph M. Clifford ruled that Ohio liquor laws allowing seizure of alcohol after permit revocation violate the U.S. and state constitutions. The ruling centers on Louis W. Grieb of Springfield whose Night Hawk Case permit was revoked in 1946. The decision could require return or fair value of about $5,000 in seized wines and spirits and may expose prior seizures to claims.
