A large winter storm lashed the nation with tornadoes in three southern states and blizzards in the north. At least 115 dead nationwide, 58 in traffic accidents, many from slippery roads and poor visibility. Airports closed, railways behind schedule, and schools shut as snow and ice blanketed the map.

A farmer fed him then Logan city jail gave him guest lodging where he slept long and awoke hungry but coherent. He said it was the worst night of his life and that the wind blew out his fire many times while he waited for dawn.
A committee of the Hocking County Roosevelt-Davey Club met at the 1, 90, O. F. building to consider a Roosevelt Ball likely set for Thursday night January 30. The event may feature a pot-luck dinner or new entertainment with several speakers planned.
Delaware January 20 AP The Schine Theatre Co of Bellefontaine announced it has added two theatres at Athens and a half interest in one at Delaware to its holdings, expanding to twelve Ohio cities. The firm operates theaters in Wooster Mt. Vernon Ashland Norwalk Bucyrus Van Wert Piqua Bellefontaine Athens and Delaware and will move headquarters to Delaware.
