ST HYACINTHE Que Jan 19 The Sacred Heart college building fire killed or left missing 45 teachers and pupils with 21 injured. Seventeen dead and 28 unaccounted for, authorities said while sixteen bodies were recovered and one person died in hospital. Origin of the blaze undetermined, started shortly after midnight.

Navy Planes Reach Honolulu Harbor

Wolfe pleads not guilty to manslaughter charge
Henderson Wolfe aged 24 was free on a $1000 bond as a grand jury reviews a second degree manslaughter indictment filed by Prosecutor Hubert Lappen. The incident occurred on Route 31 near The Diamond when Wolfe allegedly struck Jesse Harper who died while helping change a tire. Harper, 26, of Logan, was with Albert Cohagan and Harold Voris. Corning native Bill Hardy, son of Mr and Mrs R A Hardy and nephew of Rev and Mrs W Graham, served as a master pilot in the U S Navy during the 18 plane Pacific flight. He visited Logan last November and survived a near disaster when engine head blew out at several hundred feet but the plane landed safely. Each plane in the Pacific maneuvers carried four crew members including pilots, radio operators, mechanics and a navigator.
