Warm spell continues in Hocking Valley after cold snap

The Hocking Valley enjoyed warmer weather with 41 degrees by 11 a.m. and a forecast for higher temperatures Sunday. Friday's high reached 30 degrees while Thursday night dropped to nine degrees.

No new oil well completions are reported in Hocking County though four wells are being drilled. Pipe Service Co. works on the C. B. Sutton lease in Falls Two. Anderson Investment Co. is at 2,240 feet and shut down on the J. W. and M. Fickenscher lease in Benton Two. Brown Oil Co. is at 2,630 feet on the H. and J. Brown lease in Falls Two. Johnson and Butler at 3,010 feet on the L. Nixon lease in Falls Gore Two.

LBJ urges greater use of women in top government posts

President Johnson told his all male Cabinet that government has not fully tapped American women’s brainpower. He asked Cabinet members to report on women in government, citing a skill bank of educated women and urging more women into high level posts to improve policy making. Logan High Senior Wins District FFA Speaking Contest

Castro Not Involved Denied by Khrushchev in Panama Crisis

Body of airman found after B52 crash near Cumberland

The body of T. Sgt. Melvin Wooten, 27, tail gunner on the B52 jet bomber, was recovered Friday night after a crash near Cumberland. Arlington burial for Panama riot victim Staff Sgt Luis Jimenez Cruz
