Soviet cosmonauts in Soyuz 4 landed in Kazakh snow near Karaganda after a linked mission with Soyuz 5. Boris Volynov remained in orbit aboard Soyuz 5 as Soyuz 4 descended, with a recovery helicopter guiding the crew to Karaganda.

Indonesian army reports thousands arrested in Sumatra after alleged assassination plot against Sukarno. Kennedy autopsy findings reaffirmed. Ruth Dan Roberts 80 of 251 Friesner Ave died 5 40 am at Hocking Valley Community Hospital after a long illness. Born Aug 9 1888 in Rockbridge she was a daughter of Owen W Schatf Hull and Mary A. Schatf Hull. Survived by five sons and three daughters, 16 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Funeral arrangements by Heinlein Funeral Home to be announced.
Republican Sens. Armstrong and Leedy introduced a bill to expel nonstudents for intent to disrupt campus order. Suspensions would await a hearing, with permanent dismissal possible upon guilt. Outside agitators face fines up to 500 and six months jail. the measure mirrors other proposals from Burr Oak workshop agendas.
