First Degree Murder Counts Facing Youths
Two Youngstown high school students Arthur Chapman age 17 and Dan Frohner age 16 confessed to killing 52 year old salesman William S. Spieth of Ashtabula to steal his car. Sheriff Ralph E. Elser said they will face first degree murder charges. Spieth was found on Route 62 after being beaten and shot. the youths were arrested nearby after fleeing.

John W. Donaldson, 68, died today at his home in the Dicken Addition after a long illness. A native of Perry County, he lived in Logan and Hocking County most of his life and was a retired laborer. Funeral services are by Leonard Funeral Service, with burial in Greenlawn Mausoleum in Nelsonville. Survivors include his widow Cora, a son Avard of Pittsburgh, three brothers Albert Logan Frank New Straitsville and Charles Oroville, and two sisters Anna Richards Logan and Rosa Myers Columbus.
