Sheriff Ralph J. Paul reopened an investigation into the year old Walter Ray Middlemas case after his body was found along Alum Creek near Columbus and remained unidentified for months. The skull was fractured in three places and the mother Mrs. Stella Gundling of West Lafayette asked for further information in a letter.

He warns death could come, saying peace depends on equality and security for all faiths amid India Pakistan tensions over Kashmir. Minor injuries were reported. the fire’s cause remained under investigation.
Two Chauncey ministers Rev. Gilbert Courtney and Rev. Joe Maffett were injured Monday evening in a collision on US Route 33 at Rockbridge. Courtney suffered chest injuries while Maffett had head bruises and lacerations. both were taken to Sheltering Arms Hospital in Athens.
An Eastern Airlines plane crashed in heavy rain while landing at National Airport. Five persons were killed and four injured in the incident on the Maryland side of the Potomac River near the airport.
Akron laborer Alvan Johnson aged 38 paused from construction work to yawn widely. He arrived at City Hospital 15 minutes later with a dislocated jaw. The house doctor reset his jaw and Johnson returned to his duties awake and alert.

Earl E. Hart campaign manager for Harold Stassen opened an Ohio tour to gauge sentiment in the home state of Senator Robert A. Taft. He planned Youngstown as the first stop and said Stassen will run in the Ohio primary this May unless circumstances change.
Coroner L A Adair ruled John Peters aged 57 died by drowning in a ditch at the edge of Wooster Ohio. The body was found after a reported distress near the city limits. The inquest recorded drowning as the cause of death.
Stark County authorities prepared to prosecute John Harvey Haley 17 again in Canton Ohio for a 1945 hold up slaying. The plan follows the U S Supreme Court ruling invalidating Haley s confession and ordering a new trial while avoiding use of that statement.
Mrs. Alice Reynolds 70 wife of Dave Reynolds died Monday night at Hocking Valley Hospital ten days after surgery. Native of Hocking County she lived in the Monday community all her life. Senate hearing reveals Brig. Gen. Wallace H. Graham's broker kept his wheat trading account active until November 25 1947 despite President Truman’s critique of grain speculators. Graham profited $6165 in commodities and suffered $11013 in stocks for a net loss of $4848.
