Columbia Gas seeks broader curtailment of gas use
Columbia Gas of Ohio asks the Public Utilities Commission to cut deliveries to 840 industrial and 1,561 commercial customers across Ohio and to enforce curtailments with a $10 per thousand cubic feet penalty beginning April 1. The plan adds new large users to the curtailment base while excluding residential and small users. Tenants and hotels would be exempt, while allocations would be set from 1969-70 usage for industrials and three-year usage for commercials.

Robert Schmitter Jr. 21 of Logan Rt. 5 was ordered held to the grand jury by Judge James Stilwell in Hocking County Court on charges of possession of marijuana for sale selling marijuana keeping a place for marijuana and carrying a concealed weapon. Logan Officer Charged With Arson In Salt Creek Two Fire
Logan police lieutenant Carl R. Arnett was arraigned in Hocking County Court on a fourth degree felony arson with intent to defraud charge. Prosecutors allege he set a fire at his Salt Creek Two property to collect on an insurance policy and he reportedly admitted involvement. He resigned from the force and posted a $2,000 recognizance bond.

Former Logan Residents Die In Marietta Area Fire
Stanley Eugene Nutter and Patricia Lackey died in a house fire near Marietta. Officials recovered two bodies and search teams continued for the couple’s two missing children Christopher and Cindy, ages 16 and 13, while Terry alerted neighbors from a second floor. Nutter had served as Logan city policeman from 1954 to 1962 before becoming a salesman and the family moved to Ohio six years ago near Constitution, six miles southwest of Marietta.
