Washington report on President Eisenhower’s State of the Union message describes a proposed new farm program built on flexible price guarantees. More than fifty Congress members commented, but only two senators showed warm support for the idea.

Forecast shows average temperatures 6 to 10 degrees below normal. Normal highs range from 36 to 42 and lows from 21 to 24. Colder conditions persist Saturday night through Wednesday with snow and rain in southern areas and snow flurries in extreme northern areas.

Newark authorities say James L. Rizzo operator of the Broadway Night Club and Russell Jones an employee were indicted by the Licking County grand jury for grand larceny and burglary. Rizzo allegedly stole 400 dollars from patron Donald Burt while at the club and Jones took 257 dollars from Burt's home following the Dec 1 celebration.
Civil defense administrator Val Peterson warned that while workers are doing a good job, preparations are not enough to meet an atomic attack. He said millions of lives could be saved and property salvaged if U S cities had well trained civil defense units.
