Paul Bocock Jr. and three others admitted taking part in the assault and robbery of Frank Nail, a Jackson grocer whose fractured skull may lead to murder charges. Nail remained hospitalized at University Hospital, Columbus. Bocock, previously jailed for DUI, was also linked to a prior three car crash on Route 33 near Logan.

Police found a seven foot wooden cross and stacked $20 bills in his kitchen. The four had lived together for three years and were not linked to any local sect. Prosecutors cited a Connecticut law banning claims of deity.
U N secretary general Dag Hammarskjold met Chinese premier Chou En Lai in Peiping to discuss the two way talks. Peiping radio noted the meeting but gave no purpose. Hammarskjold plans to wrap up discussions this weekend before returning to the United States.
Panama police hold 34 year old American in communicado over the Remon assassination. They question at least 70 suspects in a gang style murder. Martin Irving Lipstein described as New York schoolteacher was arrested at the airport. Roy Bettis, 36, from Waukegan Illinois, released after questioning about a Canal Zone truck driver’s activities.
Columbus reports the state auditor's office says a $4280 shortage in accounts at the Middletown branch of the Butler County juvenile court has been referred to the county grand jury for investigation.
The Ohio Controlling Board released 705000 to finish a Cincinnati Conneaut turnpike survey with a Toledo spur. Gov Lausche called the move a step toward a second Ohio turnpike linking river and lake traffic and the seaway.
Kenneth Koltenbach of near Marysville, a Con nolly Construction Co. employee, was pinned two hours beneath a overturned tractor at the Lake Logan dam. He was hospitalized for shock and exposure after being found in two inches of icy water by James Barker. X rays were planned as authorities investigate how the machine overturned while Koltenbach attempted to load it onto a truck.

Cincinnati police say four boys and two girls helped smuggle a 17 year old prisoner from Lancaster Boys Industrial School. The inmate was recaptured. Suspects include John Drury 19 Stanley Rhodes 22 Donald Gundrum 22 all of Cincinnati and George Green 18 a soldier held in Covington Ky.
In Akron an 18 year old, James Phelps, pleaded guilty to breaking and entering and stealing $200. Judge Walter B Wanamaker sentenced him to spanking with a ping pong paddle until his seat is red. The father agreed he could administer the punishment.
Four servicemen are missing after a collision between two B47 Stratojets southwest of Lake Charles Louisiana. The crash involved one B47 that went down with three crewmen and another that parachuted a crewman who survived to reach base. A ship reported wreckage about 30 miles southeast of the Texas Louisiana boundary, with no survivors confirmed.

A tropical storm in the southern Philippines killed 24 people and injured many more. Most victims drowned in southern Leyte, according to the Philippine News Service.
