Thieves stole a bundle of payroll checks destined for Baker Wood Preserving in McArthur from a Lake Shore System bus last night and abandoned them in an alley near Stoltz Drug Store. The $9 600 bundle, wrapped in plain paper, was recovered this morning. another bundle bound for a Wellston auto firm was lost but its contents unknown. Police recovered remaining checks and traced their path from Columbus to McArthur, noting the checks required countersignature.
