The annual state sponsored winter hike over six miles on the Buckeye Trail in Hocking County will start at Old Man's Cave at 10 a.m. on Saturday January 18. Nearly 1,000 participants last year. Hike goes Gorge Trail to Cedar Falls for lunch then to Ash Cave with bus transport back. Buckeye Trail Association officers lead. Ohio Division of Parks and Recreation officials supervise.

Logan Rt 1 Youth Guilty of Auto Larceny
Roger Raymond McNeely 20 of Logan Rt. 1 pleaded guilty in Hocking County Common Pleas Court to auto larceny. Judge Harley Meyer fined him 100 dollars and costs and sentenced him to three months in jail, suspended on condition of returning to work and helping support his parents and abstaining from alcohol. McNeely must pay costs within 90 days. He took a car from Lambert's Food Center lot December 13, drove to Nelsonville, where another car was later taken. no damage reported. He had been held on 500 dollar bond and confined since arraignment. Sheriff praised his conduct in jail.
