Pete Montgomery Dies At Age of 76
C. R. Pete Montgomery, 76, native of Logan, died New Year’s Day at his Hamilton Illinois home. A retired coal yard operator at Fort Madison Iowa, he had lived in Logan, graduated from Logan High School in 1898. Survivors include a daughter Mary Siefkin of Spirit Lake, a twin sister Clair Moore of Spirit Lake, a granddaughter and great granddaughter, three nieces Fanny Spears Carl Frenier and Paul Collison of Logan, eight grandnephews and two grandnieces. He was a son of William and Mary Rolston Montgomery. His wife Louise preceded him in death. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

Train Demolishes Hocking School Bus in Enterprise
An East Hocking school bus was demolished early today near Enterprise when struck by a Chesapeake and Ohio Railway diesel engine. The unoccupied bus had been being started to pick up rural students. Engineer Frank Helber of Columbus was aboard the train en route from Logan to Columbus. the incident occurred at 7:55 a.m. A wrecker assisted in repositioning the bus. Donald Dupler of Logan was cited for unsafe operation and ordered to appear in court.

Logan Carborundum Plant to Share in Huge Expenditure
