Keen a year old Newfound land dog owned by Mr and Mrs John Wetherill of Canal Winchester Route 1 is accepted for military service after submitting a War Department questionnaire. Classified 1 A he will be called for active duty and may be sent to a government dog training station in Delaware. The Wetherills and their children say Keen is a loyal watchdog and protector who even retrieves the newspaper each night and watches for mailmen with wary loyalty.

Use of Newsprint Cut by 10 Percent

GETTYSBURG PA Jan 1 The Western Maryland branch ends passenger trains after approval by state commissions. The 50 mile line from Gettysburg to Baltimore loses money and frees equipment for war use.
