The treasury seeks to curb gold inflows by a new credit control tool. It plans to deposit future gold acquisitions in an inactive treasury act and to buy back outstanding bills as gold flows out. The balance wheel removes loanable funds during inflows and restores them as outflows to prevent inflation.
Columbus, Ohio, December 22 AP The state senate debated a 66 million dollar annual tax program with five companion bills likely to advance by Wednesday. Senate committee backing preserved the sales tax measure with 60 percent for schools and 40 percent for local governments. School leaders failed 6 to 3 to require 26 million annually for schools and 5.75 million for 1937 with 5 million for 1938 to cover deficits. House previously approved the program. now sent back to the senate for final action alongside extensions of sales use liquid fuel amusement and cigarette levies.
Administration legal experts review the Supreme Court's arms embargo decision for constitutional validity of the neutrality law. Chairman McReynolds of the House Foreign Affairs Committee says the ruling supports a broader law and implies the president may know best how and when to act on foreign affairs.

Dec 22 AP reports Chiang Kai-Shek’s American educated wife flew to Nanking to plead for his freedom amid protests by high officials. The crisis deepens as local Shensi government is dissolved, with provincial affairs placed under Nanking rule and rebels blamed for the unrest.

Musmanno, recalling youth and the line there ain't no Santa Claus, orders that anyone within the jurisdiction who questions Santa Claus is in contempt of court and will be committed.
