Long Island firm eyes Logan plant to make full staircases

A Long Island firm negotiates with Visador Co of Jasper Texas to acquire the former Coffman Stair Co plant in Logan with plans to open a staircase operation. If purchased, 25 to 30 workers to start, rising to about 100. United Wood Products also plans January operations in Logan, employing 25 to 30 workers initially.

Carter Sets Tax-Cut Plan

President Carter plans a 25 billion tax cut package to spur the economy and help taxpayers especially in low income brackets. Proposals would take effect Oct 1 and offset higher Social Security taxes starting in 1979.

LHS Girls Nominated for Christmas Queen at Hilltop Dance

Nine girls across grades 9 to 12 are nominated for the Christmas Queen crown as the second annual Aerial Christmas Dance runs from 8 to 11 30 tonight in the Hilltop cafeteria. Males in grades 10 to 12 named three per class, then student ballots selected the finalists and runner ups. The event features music by the Starlifters and door prizes from local merchants.

Transfer Filing For Crystal Bar Liquor Permits

The Ohio Department of Liquor Control processes a transfer of liquor permits from Fred Rochester to Raymond Travis for the Crystal Bar at 950 E. Front St. The bar holds D-1 and D-2 licenses for on site and carry out sales. Rochester retired after 12 years owning the business. Travis leased it about a year and bought it earlier this spring.
