Logan School Board Approves LHS Video Center Plan

Logan schools consider a new LHS radio TV production center with Channel 9 as a school use channel. Ed Killoran would teach. a $1,400 Channel 9 modulator is the only required expense, with Community Cable Service Inc. managing installation. The project could allow live broadcasts of meetings and classroom programming via the cable system.

Logan School Board Reviews Discipline Policy Update

Logan School Board plans to review and update discipline rules for elementary and secondary levels. The demerit and suspension system is under scrutiny amid Hilltop junior-senior high tensions. Don Young says the first meeting on the secondary level will be held this afternoon with six teachers administrators one board member student council presidents and parents attending.

Jury Seated Slow in Vickrey Murder Trial

In Hocking County Common Pleas Court the murder trial of 18 year old Robert Joseph Vickrey began with a slow jury seating. By lunch only two jurors were seated from a 60 name pool drawn earlier. Judge Harley Meyer presides. County prosecutor Chris Veidt represents the state. defense attorneys are Mike Barr and Ronald E. Deveau.

Good To Retire As Superintendent In Logan District

Logan School Board president Don Young announced at the final 1976 session that Fred Good will retire as district superintendent on August 1. Good has led the district since August 1975 after serving as assistant superintendent since September 1973 and has about 30 years in educational administration.

Ist Day Of Winter Severe For Valley

The first day of winter brought biting winds freezing temperatures and 1 to 3 inch snow across the Hocking Valley. Crews cleared primary and secondary highways with up to six state and three county crews working overnight. Temperatures dipped to 13 degrees, with a 19 degree reading at 11 am. clearing and cold weather follow with warmer conditions on Wednesday.

Inflation slows as food prices dip in November

The government reports November consumer prices rose by three tenths of a percent, matching October, while real spendable earnings jumped eight tenths of a percent, the largest monthly gain in over a year.

James Stewart, an organizer, says eight or nine volunteers are recruited to play Santa on Christmas Eve in Logan from 5 30 to 9 p m. Residents should leave porch lights on for visits and donations are sought to buy 2000 candy canes. This is the program's last year operating independently before the Logan Jaycees take over next year.

President elect Carter plans a 2 p.m. EST news conference televised by ABC to announce at least two more cabinet choices including defense and labor heads. Harold Brown is likely to be defense secretary, while labor posts center on Ray Marshall or John T. Dunlop amid diverse views.
