Musicians End Ban Forbidding Record Making
New York Dec 14 Members of the American Federation of Musicians plan to end an 11 month recording ban this afternoon after a new five year contract with phonograph record companies. The government approved a welfare fund financed by royalties on records to aid unemployed musicians with free public concerts and other welfare needs. Samuel R. Rosenbaum will administer the $25 000 a year fund, expected to generate about $2 million annually. RCA Victor Columbia Capitol lined up artists to begin recording immediately. Decca held back.
