Selassies Palace Bombed Emperor Escapes Uninjured

Italy bombed Emperor Haile Selassias palace in Dessye more of the palace and a Red Cross hospital tent were destroyed. An official Italian report said 24 Ethiopians and three Italians died in intensified fighting as Ethiopians launched a first major offensive along the northern front.

Police officer and prisoner burned in auto collision near Alexandria

A special police officer Louis Shaw and prisoner William R. Harrison were killed when their automobile, which was struck by an oil truck and caught fire, burned near Alexandria. Vernon R. Wilt, Arlington traffic officer, accompanied Shaw after arresting Harrison at the Bluebird barbecue.

A Northwestern passenger train collided with a Milwaukee freight at Clinton Iowa early today derailing several cars and injuring four people with minor hurts reported.

Four Die in Ohio Coal Mine Explosion at Warner Collieries

A gas ignition tore through the Warner Collieries Co mine in Wolf Run Ohio killing four married men from Amsterdam and Bergholz after an eight hour rescue effort. Thirty-one miners escaped as rescue squads from nearby mines worked by miners lights with the mine's power knocked out. Relatives gathered at the entrance as word spread of the tragedy.

Tobacco market opens in Gallipolis with average Burley prices

Officer shoots theft suspect at Columbus jewelry store

Patrolman Lee Hoffman killed Charles Bowman, 25, of Columbus, after Bowman ignored commands to halt following a jewelers alarm. Watches and rings stolen from Roger & Co. were recovered. Hoffman and Patrolman William Hixon responded in a police cruiser to a cracked display window with a brick used to break in.

Work Under Way On 47 Acre Reservoir In Manchester Co

Work on a $67,000 works progress administration project to create a 47 acre lake is under way at Seaman Adams county near here. Forty men are employed on the project. Seaman Dam will impound the lake and measure 550 feet long 67 feet high and 400 feet wide at the base.

Mrs. Arthur Kessel sent her 3 year old son upstairs for a nap. He returned with the claim that the bed was on fire. Firemen extinguished the blaze and the boy was spanked for starting the fire.

Dan Heady one of five federal prisoners who escaped Muskogee jail was killed near Weathers Oklahoma. Dewey Gilmore, another escapee, was captured at a farmhouse. Five shots fired in the pursuit by possemen. Heady led the jail break and Gilmore was cited as a dangerous outlaw.

Bruno Not to Blame Belief in Lindbergh Case

Governor Hoffman said Ellis Parker, not Burlington county detective, was under the impression Hauptmann was not responsible for the Lindbergh kidnapping. Parker, known for solving crimes, was summoned by former Governor Moore to the case. Hoffman also disclosed a nocturnal visit to Hauptmann in his death house cell at the state prison.

Bank Robbers Hold Seven Hostages In Ohio Kidnap Quest

Police and highway patrols hunted two armed robbers who hijacked seven captives, including a Springfield orchestra leader Frank Morelli, after fleeing Franklin Ohio with 2800 dollars. Police guard wounded suspect in Franklin bank robbery

Martins Ferry Ohio police watched a wounded man at a hospital as Howard G. Robinson said he could identify one of two bandits from the Franklin D. bank robbery in which a companion was killed.
