Anna Marie Hahn Ready for Transfer to Ohio Penitentiary

Anna Marie Hahn, 31, condemned to die for the murder of Jacob Wagner, was ordered ready at a moment's notice for transfer to Ohio Penitentiary in Columbus. Charge Man 77 Charged in Shooting of Schoolgirls

Michael Ritter a 77 year old shopkeeper is jailed on charges he murdered an 11 year old girl and wounded her companion after children scribbled on his sidewalk fronting his store in Newport News Virginia. Witnesses say Ritter fired from behind his screen door as the girls fled and neighbors found Sue Stokes mortally wounded and Mary Ellen Coles crying nearby.

Japan apologizes as US launch returned to owners

In Shanghai on December 1 AP reports Japan returned an American owned launch seized by Japanese sailors. Two American flags were restored and two Italian vessels were also returned with apologies claiming the seizure was a mistake. The United States protested prior to the apology.

Car Thieves Await Federal Charges in Logan Case

Federal officers planned to arrest three youths from Niles C along with a 16 year old girl after a stolen car allegedly taken from Warren. Suspects Pete Polinsky 20 James Myrne 19 and Frank Soda 18 face federal charges for transporting the vehicle across the West Virginia border at Weirton. The girl Ruth Peckens 16 will be sent to juvenile authorities in Toronto. The car remains held for the owner.

Civil War Veteran Cleared After Desertion Error

Representative Ashbrook said the War Department approved a bill to clear Lester Cooley of Croton Ohio of desertion by error. Cooley, 94, was listed as a deserter after failing to return from a 20 day furlough while recovering from wounds, due to his surgeon's advice and a notification lapse.

Man 70 Kills Dog Then Takes Own Life

Marion Ohio December report by coroner M F Axthelm finds How ard Hoffhine aged 70 died by his own action after killing his pet dog with a hammer. Hoffhine’s body was found yesterday in a well near his farm home ten miles east of town along with the dog’s fresh grave.

Coal schedule to start December 15 nationwide price plan

Officials of the bituminous coal commission announced a minimum price schedule aimed at reviving the $11 billion soft coal industry. Senate Leader Keith Lawrence introduced the administration bill to start unemployment benefits next January with a $900,000 general revenue appropriation to cover six months of operations. Labor Unions Oppose Davey Relief Plan in Ohio

More than 100 Ohio labor union representatives condemn Gov. Martin L. Davey's 50 50 relief plan as monstrous and impractical and back the joint legislative committee proposal with reservations. Both plans are before the Ohio legislature. The governor's plan would cost 15 million annually with state and local contributions. the committee plan seeks 16 million, with 12 million from the state.
