The United States proposes selling a broad display of goods from a Moscow exhibit to the Soviet Union including a house and a screwdriver in a goodwill gesture. Secretary Mueller says it could also be good business and save shiping costs.
Marsha Lenigar of New Marshfield was crowned Little Miss Parade of the Hills at Nelsonville, crowned by Gloria Jean Lavely. The event at Central School grounds wrapped eight days of Parade of the Hills festivities, with judges, escorts, and a baton act completing Tuesday’s program.
The Hocking Valley sweltered with a 102 degree high, a season record, as hot humid weather and hazy skies linger. Park official Ed Reichley warned of fire risk amid dry vegetation while city water supplies strain to meet demand with 1.85 million gallons pumped on the hottest day, outpacing 1.2 million gallon daily capacity.

Southern Democratic leaders condemn party chairman Paul M. Butler and his plan to require state delegations to pledge support to convention nominees. The rule could bar unruly delegations, as some states consider omitting nominees on ballots or selecting uninstructed electors to shape the Electoral College. If no candidate wins a majority, the House would decide one vote per state.
Delayed AP reports say Typhoon Iris left about 1,000 persons homeless in the Pescadore Island group west of Formosa. The storm struck Saturday and caused extensive damage to homes in the area.

Timken Roller Bearing Co. will invest 5.25 million dollars to double output at its Columbus Ohio plant. A Li Bergstrom vice president for engineering said a second railroad bearing line will be ready by fall 1960. The existing line has run at full capacity since December. The expansion adds 150 jobs and raises annual capacity to 20 000 sets of all purpose freight car bearings.
William B. Hendershot supervisor of investigation for the Ohio Division of Wildlife faces assault and battery and resisting arrest charges in Upper Arlington. He allegedly struggled with an officer, fled to his home, and locked the door after an erratic driving report. Officers entered and arrested him. he is due in Mayor's Court September 15.
Dr K K Waering was to resume as head of the Southeastern Ohio Tuberculosis Hospital at Nelsonville after a 30 day suspension. State Health Director Dr Ralph Dwork said Waering suffered a heart attack during suspension and his return remains uncertain after he fired a woman employee accused of pressuring a patient.
George Hopkins 46 of Ray, Vinton County, was killed on a Columbus freeway project when a loader operator released a half ton of dirt. He was pinched against his 12 ton truck, the gear shift piercing his chest.
Wednesday features Ladies Day exhibits and a mock wedding from 1 to 10 pm with an 8 pm event. Thursday hosts the Parade of the Hills at 6 pm and crowning of the Queen. Friday is Merchant Day with NHS band concert at 7:30. Saturday brings Kids Day with Pinky Lee and free shows at 7 and 9:30 pm plus movies prizes and a horse pulling contest. Sunday is Oldtimers Day including a 2 pm baseball game.
