Elvis Presley died of a heart ailment at 42 in Memphis. Autopsy cited a heart artery constriction. doctors denied drug involvement. Presley, famed for Heartbreak Hotel and Hound Dog, was found unconscious at Graceland and died at Baptist Hospital.

Escaped Nazi war criminal Herbert Kappler remains in the Lueneburg area where he is expected to live out his life as a free man. West Germany cannot extradite him to Italy due to constitutional ban, police had halted the Rome hunt. Kappler, aged about 70, was said dying of intestinal cancer and smuggled out of a Rome hospital by his wife.

Orville McCoy, 31, of Logan, was arrested by New Orleans police on Hocking County warrant for the Aug. 8 jail escape. Extradition will be pursued by Sheriff Hap Thrush who will retrieve him. Remaining fugitives are William Price, 22, of Lancaster, and Charles Albert Globe Jr., 18, of Columbus.
