Voters in Logan and Laurelville school districts face key decisions next Tuesday May 4 on a 23 millage for a vocational school bond and a separate operation levy. The Logan district also seeks an 11.5 mill operating levy renewal while the bond issue for building programs has failed twice before.

The network expansion adds Cleveland and Toledo stops with a New York to Chicago service, while Amtrak forecasts first year losses around 110 million dollars and seeks public patience.

Logan and Murray City residents will pay 4.78 cents more per 1000 cubic feet of natural gas starting May 16, per Columbia Gas of Ohio. The bill rises about 72 cents monthly for the average heating customer. Increases reflect higher supplier costs approved by the Federal Power Commission and passed to customers via local contracts. The change affects 269 Ohio communities.
Police investigate two overnight burglaries. Rauch Medical Clinic on Third Street reported $472 stolen after intruders pried a rear door and ransacked desks. The $85,000 grant from the Justice Department to the Agriculture Department funds the program named WHEP Wild Hemp Elimination Program. Ohio House may insert a pro Vision amendment setting the minimum public office age to 21 in the Vote-18 measure. Fred Young notes the amendment is ready for sponsorship and one day of hearings is planned before floor action. If approved, it goes to the secretary of state for November ballot certification. Senator Armstrong dissented again.
