Capt Eugene M Kotone 37 of Humbolt Nebraska was acquitted of maiming a Viet Cong prisoner after the 1968 My Lai raid. A seven member panel of career Army officers at 3rd Army headquarters near Atlanta delivered the verdict after about an hour of deliberation.

Opening Day Wild Turkeys Bagged in Hocking County
Two wild turkeys were taken in Hocking County on opening day of the season. Leon Marietta of Toledo bagged a 15 2 pound bird at 6 45 a m with one shot, his first wild turkey. Charles Olive of Sugar Grove took an 18 pound 12 ounce bird. Hunting pressure was light and gobblers did not respond to calls.
