The U S Navy launched a new B52 bombing drive against North Vietnamese bases in War Zones C and D north of Saigon. In 24 hours, 36 Stratofortresses dropped over 1000 tons, with raids centered near the Cambodian border and Saigon area. The campaign aims to prevent regrouping of NVA troops amid a tapering spring offensive.

Ohio Guards were placed on standby at two state prisons as strikes halted work at Ohio Penitentiary and Mansfield Reformatory. About 54 of 175 to 200 workers reported at Columbus prison with 100 guards added. Mansfield had around 80 present, with Akron guards sent to stand by. Wages for striking officers are seeking 1500 dollars more annually while other facilities report normal staffing. Local National Guard units received no immediate call to duty.
Prison guards demanded higher starting pay with a possible hazard bonus as a legislated raise to 5630 dollars looms. Lt Col James Abraham led 110 armed guards at the penitentiary as 330 soldiers rotated on eight hour shifts.
