Paris April 23 AP French government moves to arm the Franco Soviet mutual aid pact with definite military plans as Hitler allegedly readies to strike eastward. Flandin and Potemkin to finalize conferences with Russian and French staffs to map a closely coordinated war plan against Germany. Britain urged to state policy in event of Nazi aggression into Austria or Czechoslovakia.
Today ICONGRESS’ sessions cover a deportation bill debate and a general tax bill discussion. Subcommittees hear evidence on industrial espionage and deficiency funding while committees examine farm tenancy, commodity regulation, and a Panama treaty.
Freddie Bartholomew's earnings become a new line of attack as his mother Lillian Bartholomew loses a court bid to regain custody. She seeks accountings from aunt and guardian Miss Myl licent Bartholomew for over 5000 dollars Freddie is said to have earned in two years while his father Cecil Bartholomew is also named. The attorney hints at adding the father as co defendant after a brief withdrawal. A reunion with his mother is planned for this weekend.

Four miners were injured and three killed when the cage jammed in the American Eagles mine shaft near Cripple Creek Colorado. Victims named as Joseph Hedman Adrian Marshall and Newton Taylor all about 50 and residents of the area. The cause of death was under investigation as two others recovered from injuries.
Altoona police labeled the case as murder after 3 year old Matthew Sonny Karmendi died from a broken skull. Investigators said his mother Margaret Karmendi and accomplice Roy Lockard signed sworn statements blaming each other for striking Sonny with a heavy bolt.
Washington representative Zioncheck was brought to traffic court for speeding at 70 mph after a scuffle with police attempting to serve him with an appearance attachment. He was held in the guard room with the house staff sergeant as authorities sought a plan after his failure to appear.
John Fiorenza the 24 year old confessed slayer of Mrs Nancy Evans Titterton faced plans for an insanity defense. Attorney Henry Klauber said he would seek a lunacy commission while District Attorney William C Dodge expected to present to the grand jury stating the defendant is normal and knowingly committed the act.

Gov. Martin L. Davey issued a 60 day stay of execution for Donald Eberle 30 of Chicago who was to die in the electric chair at Ohio Penitentiary for the holdup slaying of Cleveland butcher boy Albert Wesoskyk 20. The stay follows an appeal to the state supreme court and coincides with an indefinite stay for Eberle's companion John Pleyer 30 of Chicago who was convicted in the same crime and had faced death Friday night.
Seven men accused of abducting William Hamm Jr. in 1933 were named in federal grand jury indictments in St. Paul. Alvin Karpis is absent, with a $5,000 reward offered for information leading to his arrest. Other defendants include Charles Fitzgerald, John Peifer, Edmund Bartholomew, Bryan Bolton, Arthur Barker, and Elmer Farmer.
Governor C. Ben Ross was listed as the driver in a police report for a rain night collision in Boise that fatally injured Norman Young, a 65 year old bookkeeper. The governor assisted in transporting the victim to a hospital and appeared upset.
The FDIC reports total insured commercial bank resources in Ohio reached 2.183 billion on December 31, up 13.2 percent for the year. National deposits climbed 10 percent, while Ohio deposits stood at 1.904 billion, up 17.5 percent from 1934.

Civilian Conservation Corps crews from Camp Hocking are building a new three and a half mile road from Ash Cave on Route 56 to Cedar Falls and improving the existing Cedar Falls to Old Man's Cave route. The project will create a direct link Old Man's Cave Cedar Falls Ash Cave and is funded entirely by the CCC along with other county road improvements.
The Chamber of Commerce of the United States reports an upward swing in American exports in 1935 across products like cotton automobiles machinery and petroleum. Despite quotas and exchange controls limiting trade the reciprocal trade policy has reduced some restrictions and boosted demand globally. By value 68 percent of 100 leading exports rose over 1934 and 58 percent exceeded the five year average. By quantity 63 percent of 167 chief exports rose over the prior year and 59 percent topped the five year average.
Dr. D E Robertson and Charles Alfred Scadding were freed from the Moose River gold mine after 200 feet of tunneling. The Toronto physician and Scadding, weakened by the ordeal, were rushed to hospital as rescuers recovered the dead companion Herman Magill.
Carlton S. Dargusch of the state tax commission calls a supreme court decision that manufacturing equipment must be taxed at market value the most expensive revenue loss the commission has faced. He warns Ohio tax systems will be wrecked with millions in lost revenue and retroactive amendments unlikely.
