Weather Clears and River Falls Back To Normal Levels
Clear and sunny weather prevailed in the Hocking Valley with no rain forecast. The Hocking River, near flood stage three times since last Wednesday, was dropping toward normal by 11 a.m. Today the river neared Logan at eight feet, six feet by noon, with 62 degrees and a 40 degree low tonight. The Kentucky River stood 11 feet above flood stage as 100 plus families remained away from their homes in Frankfort.

Nine cars of an eastbound Penn Central freight train derailed at the west edge of Newark Ohio shortly before midnight Sunday. No injuries were reported and the cause remains unknown. The train traveled from Columbus to Conway Pennsylvania and carried general freight.

Starr-Washington Freshman Wins Superior Rating at State Science Day
Mike Davis of Starr-Washington High School earned a superior rating at the State Science Day in Lausche Building Ohio Exposition Center. His Apollo Command Module project, a one fourth scale model with functioning features, was judged among about 200 of 650 exhibits. He will display at the 1972 Ohio State Fair.
