Two defendants, Robert and Harry Nelson of Sugar Grove Route 1, changed to guilty on grand larceny charges for taking parts from a steam pump at Haydenville’s National Fireproofing Co. Their sentences were suspended and they receive three years probation.

CIO Communications Workers Union officials in Washington discussed a full scale telephone strike while steel wage talks were recessed over Easter. San Juan Air Crash Toll Reaches Fifty-TTwo
The U S Coast Guard said there is little hope of survivors from the Pan American liner crash off San Juan. Fifty-two are dead or presumed dead after 39 missing from the Good Friday flight.
