Torrential rainfall of nearly 2 inches from Sunday night to Monday morning swelled creeks and the Hocking River. State Route 75 suffered inundations near Oroville and near the William Loomis farm, with Monday Creek flooding the road by up to a foot. Routes 278 and 595 also flooded while U S Route 33 remained passable after four inches of river water at Horn's Mill. Nationwide, numerous roads closed and the Columbus Zoo pumped drinking water after flooding. The Hocking River near Athens rose to 15.9 feet, with forecasts suggesting a 20-foot crest tomorrow.
