A rash of grass and forest fires roared through Meigs County and surrounding areas in southeastern Ohio. Firefighters from 10 departments in Ohio and West Virginia battled nine hours to contain the blazes aided by planes and forestry equipment. Several homes and a motel were saved, with minor injuries reported among crews.
