Palm Sunday Opens Holy Week in Hocking County
Palm Sunday marks the start of Holy Week with special services across Hocking County churches culminating on Easter Sunday April 11. Good Friday noon to 2 p.m. service sponsored by the Hocking County Ministerial Association focuses on the seven last words of Jesus. Local ministers give meditations while most businesses close. The First United Presbyterian Church begins with an Easter cantata Last Words of Jesus directed by Wilbur Lanning Jr. The service includes baptism. Maundy Thursday re enacts the Last Supper with dimming lights. Logan Trinity United Methodist Church features Palm Sunday sermons With Jesus When the Crowds Applauded and baptism. Other Holy Week events include Maundy Thursday candlelight, Holy Communion, and slide programs on Barabbas. St John s Catholic Church conducts multiple Masses and Holy Week rites. St Matthew Lutheran observes Maundy Thursday Communion and Good Friday worship. Church of the Nazarene features He Honors an Ass sermon on Palm Sunday.

The Ohio Department of Highways approved relocating State Routes 374 and 664 near Old Man's Cave in Benton Township. A public hearing occurred in Logan on January 28. The 2.5 mile corridor would shift Route 374 onto nearby Anderson Road and Krin Unger Keck Road, with Route 664 rerouted to overlap.
