A deputation of town livery men urged the Council on Monday night to curb unlicensed livery drivers. Mr Crossley claimed his annual business tax exceeded £70 and demanded protection. The Council agreed an injustice existed and set a committee to draft a bylaw for the next meeting.
Monday night the council refused free water for small ratepayers and kept a 10c per barrel charge. The bucket brigade will remain at the rear hall. Accounts for waterworks survey and plans total about 9000 dollars. a transfer fee of 401 dollars is noted under Tax Enforcement Returns. The streets committee and mayor will seek joint action with the village Council to curb noxious weeds this summer.
The Lloydminster district shows exceptional enlistment for the British Empire in World War I. Lt. Col. The North Battleford seven and Lloydminster meet on Monday night in a fast skating local derby. Aubrey Miller and Mullin score for Lloydminster as the visitors lead 2-1 after the first period. Frank Hamilton and A Tuckwell tie the game late as both sides press, final score 5 5.
The report states a Private Jooslin Theodore Hare, 23, of C Company, King's George hospital in Winnipeg, died after a private in the 23rd battalion. The casualty occurred yesterday at the camp as the unit prepared for duty. Private Hoare, enlisted from Battlefond, is noted in the casualty column along with others.
