Annual Meeting Highlights Board of Trade in Lloydminster

The Board of Trade held its annual meeting in the Alberta Council Chamber with a modest turnout. Officers elected include H Lisle, AJ Maynard, and T J Farley. The group discussed budget cuts, a reduced membership fee, and farming progress including higher grain yields, cattle prices, and ongoing dairy co op efforts in Lloydminster.

Grain Prices Spark Sympathy As Local Farmers Post Wins

Sympathy with grain prices surrounds Lloydminster growers who earned top prizes at outside shows. At Calgary's Provincial Show in spring, Lloydminster entries won Ast and 2nd in oxen, wheat placements, and barley prizes, with other farm lines also placing. A Lloydminster farmer secured the Colorado World's Championship Oats Cup, permanently possessing the large silver trophy.

Meeting of Patriotic Society in Alberta Hall

Public meeting in Lloydminster's Alberta Hall heard 83 cases from the Investigation Committee. Educational Chair Rev Mr Cromb cited speaker shortages due to cold weather and urged a re canvass of village and country districts, with J D Manto proposing a monthly subscriber levy. Treasurer J B Gibson reported funds received and that no money was diverted from lands. extra expenses covered by contributions.

Saskatchewan Agricultural Society Drops Seed Grain Fair

Directors decide not to hold the Seed Grain Fair this year due to high grain prices and weak Alberta fair results. They plan to contact Pure Bred Cattle Associations for prize contributions and consider breed class prize lists. Mr. B Thomas calls for a contested demonstration and a male dairy exhibit to be pursued with proper authorities.

British airman sinks submarine with daring low drop

An airman coolly dropped bombs at short range on a submarine moored beside the Mole. A massive explosion followed and the submarine sank. The airman then escaped safely.
