Mr and Mrs J R Tate celebrated 40 years of marriage with an open house on September 25 at their Llano home. They married September 27, 1936, in Llano and have four children two daughters and two sons plus six grandchildren. About 100 friends attended as heirloom lace clothed the serving table.

VA Pays Out Over $9 Million to Disabled Veterans
The Veterans Administration mailed more than 9 million in annual clothing allowances to about 52 000 service connected disabled veterans using prostheses. VA regional director Jack Coker said eligible veterans on compensation rolls receive the 175 checks automatically while disabled retirees not on compensation must apply yearly. Retirees do not waive retirement pay to receive the allowance.

Llano High School sophomores plan a Fall Fun Fest on Oct 2 with a pet show on the Courthouse lawn in the morning. They will run the egg toss tug of war and sell homemade ice cream in the afternoon.
